Poetry
On the First of May
On 2021 May 1st by montyAway to field and forest all
To damp your hem in dew,
Come hear the merry Beltane call
And join its ballyhoo!
The night was spent in revelry
Of Heiros Gamos’ scene;
To nascent earth’s fertility,
Crown King of May, and Queen.
Handfast yourselves, you joyful folx,
And bring a hawthorn bough.
The love you’ll share forever stokes
The love you’re feeling now.
Go find the relic Eildon tree
With faeries gathered round,
And speak to Elfland majesty;
In thorn your tryst is bound.
Tonight you shall be celebrant
To transitory spring,
In Goodly Fire’s element,
Beneath the maypole, sing!
From sunset last unto sunset
In Greenwood’s ancien light,
Make memories you’ll not forget,
And keep the Beltane bright.
