I wrote this in the spring of 2011, looking out of the window on a train leaving Cardiff<\/p>\n
A bronzing autumn afternoon in spring,
\nThat radiates a gorgeous golden glow,
\nOh, precious sun, herald the evening,
\nThrough tempered twilight’s tanning undertow.
\nThe last we see are copper-coloured reds,
\nAnd bars of luscious long-lamenting light,
\nBefore we lay to red on darkened beds,
\nBeneath the blackened drapery of night.
\nA time of turning, bittersweet and cold;
\nA dreadful beauty, dimming down to pray,
\nBut gentle ancient warmth of lovers old,
\nStill felt upon the dying of the day.
\nThese memories complete the closing sky –
