Inspired by nonsense poems, I tried to create a series of near-limericks that have the same first and last lines &#8211; but also, these repeated lines sound almost identical to the next poem&#8217;s first and last lines when recited aloud (<em>Holorimes!<\/em>). Have you ever misheard, &#8220;What&#8217;s up, player?&#8221; as &#8220;What supple layer!&#8221;? Then I hope you enjoy these&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Sim ill arse hounds.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Similar Sounds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A bard bred with a beetle,<\/p>\n<p>A baby was born, curled and fetal,<\/p>\n<p>With seventeen toes,<\/p>\n<p>And a penchant for prose,<\/p>\n<p>A bard bred with a beetle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A barred bread with a Beatle,<\/p>\n<p>Ringo took his loaf to a free till,<\/p>\n<p>The cashier to the stars,<\/p>\n<p>Said, \u201cthis bread has got bars!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A barred bread with a Beatle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEye-sore\u201d, a socket said, \u201cibble\u201d,<\/p>\n<p>A sentient house? Incred-ible!<\/p>\n<p>The toilet felt drained,<\/p>\n<p>The windows felt pained,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEye-sore\u201d, a socket said, \u201cibble\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I saw a sock, it\u2019s edible,<\/p>\n<p>And truly, I fancy a nibble,<\/p>\n<p>For I\u2019m fond of cheeses,<\/p>\n<p>And fungal diseases,<\/p>\n<p>I saw a sock, it\u2019s edible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Go to said sofa, Sophia,<\/p>\n<p>The floor is lava in Ikea,<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t go for that urn,<\/p>\n<p>Or you\u2019ll surely burn,<\/p>\n<p>Go to said sofa, Sophia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Goat who said, \u201cSo far, so fear\u201d,<\/p>\n<p>Was not an avid mountaineer,<\/p>\n<p>With a bad fear of heights,<\/p>\n<p>Constantly causing frights,<\/p>\n<p>Goat who said, \u201cSo far, so fear\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeef redux, four steaks a weigh!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our butcher cried out yesterday,<\/p>\n<p>As he never did learn,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Reduce\u2019 wasn\u2019t \u2018Return\u2019,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeef redux, four steaks a weigh!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Be free ducks &#8211; Force takes away,<\/p>\n<p>A mallard mixed in a mel\u00e9e,<\/p>\n<p>Had freedom until<\/p>\n<p>He was caught by the Bill,<\/p>\n<p>Be free ducks &#8211; Force takes away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Au fait? Deduct Oberon? What a culler!<\/p>\n<p>Play with no principle parts? Without pallor!<\/p>\n<p>Mechanicals? Gone!<\/p>\n<p>Lovers young? Not-a-one!<\/p>\n<p>Au fait? Deduct Oberon?
